Dr Paul Clayton
Independent researcher, consultant, published author and expert in nutrition and pharmacology
Dr Paul Clayton graduated summa cum laude in Medical Pharmacology from Edinburgh University, prior to obtaining his PhD.
He is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine and a former Senior Scientific Advisor to the UK government's Committee on the Safety of Medicines. Other posts he has held include a Visiting Fellowship at Oxford Brookes University, Scientific Directorship of the Szent Gyorgi Institute of Clinical Pharmaconutrition in Budapest - and he has contributed as a speaker to several of FAB's UK events.
Dr Clayton's book 'Health Defence' provides a highly accessible explanation of what good nutrition really means - along with evidence-based dietary guidance for improving both physical and mental health and performance.
His subsequent book 'Pharmageddon' was one of the first 'textbooks' in the emerging science of pharmaco-nutrition. It takes the small step from nutritional biochemistry to the pharmacological and therapeutic application of nutritional programmes, and does so in an accessible and intensively referenced format.
You can also follow his open commentaries on issues nutritional, pharmacological and medical / public health on his personal blog site here:
